The direct-access promise
You reach me. Not a paralegal.
The reason people come to a solo attorney is simple: they want the lawyer, not a switchboard. When you hire this office, you get Tom Deans on the phone, at the table, and in the courtroom — the same person from the first free call to the final order.
What that means for you
The same lawyer, the whole way through
No handoffs to junior associates, no chasing anyone down for an answer, no wondering who is actually handling your case. It is Tom — start to finish.
You are never just a name on a case file here. You get the lawyer whose name is on the door — and you get him directly.
A direct line to Tom +
Your calls and questions come to the attorney, and he answers them. No phone tree, no message that disappears, no waiting a week to learn where your case stands.
The same lawyer, start to finish +
The attorney you meet at the free consultation is the one who prepares your case, appears at your hearings, and signs off on your final order. You are not passed down the hall.
Non-judgmental counsel +
Family matters are hard enough. You will get candid, respectful advice about where you actually stand — no lectures, no judgment about how you got here.
Thirty years of judgment +
Three decades in Brevard County family court means Tom can tell you early what is worth fighting for and what is not — and spare you the cost of learning it the hard way.
Our services
The full family-law spine, handled personally
One experienced attorney across every matter below — the person you meet at the consultation is the person who sees it through.
-
Divorce — contested & uncontested
From straightforward, agreed dissolutions to hard-fought contested cases, handled to protect what matters most to you.
-
Custody & visitation
Parenting plans and timesharing built around your children — and a strong voice for your role in their lives.
-
Child support
Support established, enforced, or defended on accurate numbers, so the figure is fair and holds up over time.
-
Alimony
Spousal support pursued or contested with a clear-eyed read on what Florida law actually supports in your situation.
-
Property & asset division
Equitable distribution including complex, high-net-worth estates — business interests, retirement, and real property valued and divided with care.
-
Paternity
Establishing parentage and the rights that come with it — for fathers and mothers seeking to formalize custody and support.
-
Modifications
Life changes. Existing custody, timesharing, and support orders revisited and adjusted to reflect where things actually stand now.
Every one of these is handled by Tom directly — one attorney, from the first call to the final order.
Fathers have a real voice in family court.
Many fathers walk into a custody or support case feeling like the outcome is decided before they sit down. It is not. As a man and a father himself, Tom knows what is at stake for a dad who wants to stay a full parent — and he builds cases that put fathers on genuinely equal footing.
-
Equal footing, not an uphill fight
Florida law does not favor one parent by default. You get a strategy built on the facts and the statute — not on assumptions about who should get the kids.
-
Time with your children, protected
Parenting plans, timesharing, and relocation matters handled to keep you a present, involved parent — not a visitor in your own children’s lives.
-
Support that reflects reality
Child support and alimony argued on accurate income and real circumstances, so what you pay or receive is fair and sustainable.
Why clients trust this office
The measure of the practice.

About Tom
A career spent in Florida family law
Thomas W. Deans has spent his entire career in Florida family law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1982, built his foundation in the Holcomb practice, and opened his own Indialantic office in 1991 — where he has represented Brevard County families ever since.
Thirty-plus years in the same courtrooms means clients get more than a lawyer — they get judgment. Tom will tell you plainly where you stand, treat you with respect no matter your situation, and stay reachable from the first call to the final order.
